Essential Functions

  • Consults with customers and supervisors to define the scope of work projects.
  • Determines a plan-of-action by studying drawings, schematics, manuals and other pertinent information.
  • Performs and oversees the installation or replacement of equipment.
  • Uses a monitor system to demonstrate equipment and analyze malfunctions.
  • Repairs, replaces or modifies equipment, utilizing the knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, along with using standard test instruments and handtools.
  • Instructs and directs customers in servicing equipment.
  • Consults with engineering to resolve problems in order to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Submits appropriate timesheets in a timely manner.
  • Prepares detailed and timely service reports for customers and internal distributions.
Thorough understanding and ability to troubleshoot a wide selection of electrical and mechanical Woodward Products.
While in the office, between field service assignments, the engineer will be responsible for:
  • Training to enhance abilities
  • Assist engineers with projects
  • Software development as directed by Application Engineers
  • Other similar activities
The engineer will also be expected to propose departmental improvement activities and take initiative to improve the overall efficiency of the group. 
 

Other Functions
 
  • Instructs customers on operations and principles of equipment.
  • Advises management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance and suggestions for product improvements.
  • Periodically performs corrective and preventative maintenance of installed equipment.
  • Assists in the following areas: customer training, technical assistance, engineering, development and production.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
 
  • Solid understanding of electrical and/or mechanical principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with personal computers and various software applications.
  • High competence to operate a variety of test instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to solve problems with limited guidance.
  • Ability to understand and apply abstract system concepts.
  • Able to meet customer needs in difficult and demanding situations.
 
Education or Formal Training
 
BS Engineering Degree
Experience Required
 
3-4 years experience
