上海交通大学代表队在决赛中设计的自主创新项目?——分布式供水管网监控系统，在对每个节点的用水量进行数据采集之后，对工厂的阀门开闭状况、 泵机的起停以及转速进行控制，在保证泵站的压力处于合理的范围之内的同时大幅减少了能量的损耗。在实际应用中，上海交通大学代表队选取了上海市市南地区的供水管网进行测试，取得了比较理想的效果。
罗克韦尔自动化于1998年发起了“罗克韦尔自动化与中国大学共勉”项目，以长期支持中国的高等教育事业。迄今为止，罗克韦尔自动化已和全国68所高校合作建立了罗克韦尔自动化联合实验室，为高校提供代表性的软硬件设备。十六年来，罗克韦尔自动化共为高校合作伙伴捐赠了价值1.6亿元的设备、奖学金和奖教金。相关的捐资助教活动还在持续不断地进行，平均每年有数千名学生受益于实验室课程，为社会与企业培养众多自动化领域高技术人才。

自1998年罗克韦尔自动化启动“罗克韦尔自动化与中国大学共勉”项目以来，已同中国68所大学合作建立自动化实验室，包括清华大学、上海交通大学、中国科技大学、哈尔滨工业大学、香港理工大学、浙江大学等知名学府；通过“与中国大学共勉”项目，罗克韦尔自动化已先后为中国的各个高校合作伙伴捐赠了价值1.6亿元的设备、奖学金和奖教金，相关的捐资助教活动还在持续不断地进行，平均每年有数千名学生受益于实验室课程，为社会与企业培养众多自动化领域高技术人才。
